Can you believe it's the end of December already?
I wish everybody a happy and blessing new year in Year 2009.
Xinxin is more alert since the morphine was cutting down. Today the pain doctor and Dr. Chiang agree to put one more patch for Xinxin and the dosage of morphine will keep the same as yesterday-2.0 ml per hour.
We are transferred to a higher class room---two-person room, because they want Xinxin to have a good rest and I can also pay to sleep on the other bed so I can use the toilet and eat inside the room which helps us a lot. So today is the first day of my shower in the 40+days.( Usually, I had to use a basin in the toilet outside ward to wash quickly as Xinxin cried a lot after I left her for more than one minute).
It's really nice of the nurses to be so concerned and Dr. Chiang also did the best he can for us. He booked two bags of platelets everyday until next week though Xinxin's platelets is not too low--37. He worried of bleeding since it's going to be holiday and Xinxin's bone marrow is very weak after so many rounds of Chemotherapy.
Xinxin is using the peripheral line for platelets and other things because they put Vanco Lock in the portacath.They also did the blood culture for Xinxin, so far no results--no news is good news.

The pain doctors met Dr. Chiang and finally decide to put a patch and cut down the morphine to see how it works. So far I think it is ok,because they just cut down the morphine base line into 2 ml per hour at 8 p.m. and they put the the patch at 12:00 noon time. Hope Xinxin will sleep well tonight and the pain doctors will come and decide whether they want to put more patch and cut down more morphine tomorrow. But anyway we have a PCA machine here,whenever she is in pain, we just press it and she will have a bonus 1.5ml.
And the blood culture result showed there is bacteria in the portacath, that's why she had fever a few days ago. So they will continue the antibiotics and repeat the blood culture later tomorrow or the day after. If it cannot be cleared, they will remove the portacath.Please pray that the antibiotics will clear the bacteria.
In the afternoon, Xinxin told me and her favorite CCF staff that she wanted to do some Art and Craft.Thanks to the CCF staff--Sister Tian, who helps to make her a key chain with her favorite colour--pink and yellow.

I was very sick yesterday-- headache and sleepy the whole afternoon and I
complained the daddy cannot help anything.
I was very worried about Xinxin,--if I am sick, she will cry because she needs only me to stay with her 24 hours a day.Thank God, He healed me last night after a cup of hot water and some back massage by the daddy.
Today one of the patients mummy came to ask me why I am always very strong and positive. Her kid is not having cancer, but she cried many times. Instead of telling her that I also cried many times, I asked her not to waste time for being sad,which is not helpful for our kids at all.
And I shared a video with her--a story about a man called Nick born without limbs.He shared his experience of God's love.
It was recommended by two of my good friends--Yanqiong and Emily.

Xinxin is still very tired and she was sleeping most of the day. She looks very puffy. We thank Dr. Chiang for his concern. Dr. Chiang called the ward to ask Xinxin's condition in the past few days and gave them the right instruction as he is the senior consultant in QMH.

Xinxin had high fever in the morning.The doctor thought it was because of her disease since her count is very good. But they still gave her antibiotics to make sure.

Xinxin was having severe pain in the morning but we met her Doctor--Dr.Chan who was bringing students to do some research in the ward and Dr.Chiang also came back from the sick leave. So after discussing with them.They increased the dosage of the morphine (1.5ml per hour).
The whole afternoon, Xinxin was happy.My friend--Christina from Singapore sent Xinxin some books.We got it his morning.
Xinxin had a great time with the interesting books and she even made some Christmas cards by herself. It's a pity that I didn't take photos before Xinxin gave them to those who she likes here in QMH. It's really very nice of her to think of others.

Xinxin is still not feeling well. She kept vomiting and looks very tired. The doctor told us if we wanted to go home, they could send medical staff to go with us to have a rest for a few days. But Xinxin didn't want because she is scared of pain. So I guess we will stay in QMH as long as her pain is under control.

Xinxin is still in the tummy pain and the morphine was increased to 0.7ml in the morning and 0.8ml per hour in the afternoon.She is still vomiting many times.We definitely can not go home for the holiday.
Today Xinxin got her Christmas gift from the daddy--a pink blanked.We thought she would like it, because she always wants a soft blanked to hug every night.But maybe because of pain, she seems to be not interested and complained this was not the type she wanted.We will have to show it to her another day when she is feeling better.

Xinxin is not complaining leg pain if I do not touch it.But her tummy is very painful She vomited ten times and she didn't eat anything. So today the dosage of morphine increase to 0.6 from 0.5ml per hour.She is very uncomfortable the whole day and how I wish I could be the one to suffer instead of her.

Today Dr.Chiang decreases the dosage of Morphine from 0.8ml to 0,6 ml per hour. So far Xinxin is doing fine.

Xinxin is still not eating but it seems that her pain is under control.The whole day she is busy playing computer games.
She was happy to get presents from our friends--Emily's family in Singapore and Howard from USA.I thank all these friends for cheering her up.

Xinxin is feeling a little bit better thought she is still in morphine and TPN.From today on till the end of this year, the head doctor of Ward7N becomes Dr.Chiang--who is a very patient doctor.It him took about half an hour to see Xinxin's situation.And finally, he decided to let Xinxin try one drug called Zomata from USA for the bone pain. It is not used to cure Nueroblastoma, but can release the pain from the bone.And he planned to discharge us before Chrismas if her pain is relief. It is really a good piece of news--at lease we know we might be able to go home for a few days.

Praise the lord.Xinxin didn't vomited out the Chemo drug after dividing it into twice.
But she didn't eat other things much except some Chocolate and four tiny oranges before sleeping. She is still in pain.But she had a good time with the CCF staff in the afternoon.

Xinxin vomited the Chemo drug out again after she took it 10 minutes later. They will divide the amount(only 1.9ml) into twice and let her try tomorrow.
She didn't take anything except some Chocolate send by my friend Liulan's mother in the afternoon. And she also gave Xinxin a Huge stuff Bear which is very soft. So Xinxin had a happy time.
Liulan is our friend in Singapore and it's very nice of her mother to come to visit us in QMH for a few times already.
It's hard at this time for us and for Xinxin. She is really in pain even with morphine but she grasps every minute to enjoy when she feels a little better.

Xinxin is still in pain.We met her doctor Dr.Chan.He is going to use another drug for the bone besides the oral chemo. Xinxin vomited the oral drug out this morning 10 minutes after she took it. And the doctor didn't repeat it.
But she had a good time with the CCF staff this afternoon for a while.
And she also had a good time with the gifts from my friends in Singapore. My friend LiuJun came to see us in the hospital and brought some toys and my friend Chenjian also send us a lot (10kg) of Xinxin's favorite food.
I want to thank all these good friends who make her time different at this moment.

Xinxin did the RT for both the legs today and it seems that her right leg is still in pain although it is the last RT for the right one today.Maybe it takes a few more weeks for RT to have effect.
She had some of her favorite snacks today and she had some of my lunch brought by the grandpa. She missed the home cook food a lot.

We are really fortunate that we have lots of friends supporting us by our side, share our joy and sorrow

Xinxin is still in pain and we will have to wait until next Monday for the RT for both legs.(right leg for the last day and left leg for the first day) So they increase the dosage of the morphine, which helped a little bit.

Thanks to the God, Xinxin didn't vomit the Oral Chemo out in the afternoon though she complained tummy upset after taking it.She started to complain the left leg pain and we have an appointment for RT next Monday.
Xinxin had a little bit Chocolate for the first time after her sickness for one year.And she was so happy for that. And she told the grandfather she is going to be cured soon.

Xinxin did the RT in the morning and will continue to do it next Monday. She started fever last night so she is now on antibiotics.

Xinxin had a a RT in the morning and had a great time with the CCF sister although she can only lie down on the bed. In HK, there is also another foundation called CCF(children's cancer foundation).And the doctor referred Xinxin's case to CCF to see if they can arrange something special for her. They are planning to bring her to Disneyland or Ocean Park if her condition allows.
So please pray that after the two-week RT, her situation will be good enough.
Please pray at 11:30--12:00 as her RT will be done during this time every day except Sunday.

Xinxin did the RT in the morning and looks very tired and had two times of naps during the day time. She had a blood transfusion as the HB is only 7.4. She is still on TPN and morphine. She was lying on bed the whole day and had diaper 24 hour a day as she cannot move herself at all.

Xinxin went to see the RT doctor in the morning and did some scans in the afternoon she went to do a brace for the right leg because of the small crack caused by the cancer cells.
In the afternoon she did the radiotherapy which will last for two weeks. She was very cooperated as usual.
And she did a full blood court check-up today. Her count is still not good enough for the new Chemo therapy.
She is still on TPN and morphine 24 hours today. But thank God she is eating something now.

It seems I am crazy because the doctor asked if I need psychologist to talk with.
It started in the morning that I asked the doctor why Xinxin is suffering without treatment and why Xinxin can not have the radiotherapy asap. But the doctor explained that actually they have already tried their best to book Xinxin to see the professor in RT, They called the doctor instead of book in the computer.
It's really hard to calm down seeing Xinxin has pain and crying. I felt bad about being angry with the doctor. The worst thing is that when the doctor tried to explain Xinxin's situation later, I told him that I hate Neuroblastoma. The doctor seems to understand me and told me he also hates it. Isn't it funny that I didn't know what I was talking and answered Question A while the doctor was asking Question Z.
The doctor tried to tell me even with the treatment, it's hard to cure. I told him we will let her try every treatment as long as there is still a treatment. .
After the talk with the doctor, I asked Xinxin to pray for herself a cure. She told me can Jesus bring her home instead of staying at hospital, It's painful to listen to what she told me. But I still told her :"Jesus wants you to stay here because He wants the doctor to heal you."
The hospital chaplain came to see us and pray for Xinxin-- arranged by the nurses as they can tell I am extremely frustrated.

Thank God we got the Internet today finally.
Thank you for your concern.And I am sorry for not replying your emails and messages.Xinxin's situation is getting worse .She is on Morphine 24 hours a day and still needs to add the dose every day. She is also on TPN started from last Thursday. But she started to take some noodles and the tummy is better.
As for the treatment, we discussed with the doctors, and decided not to do the surgery for Xinxin first. we want to try the new chemo first.The 3F8 treatment did a great job for the bone disease. Her shoulder is no more swollen and only the leg is very pain.The doctor will do the radiotherapy for the leg first. But we need to wait for her turn for the radiotherapy although they sent her case as urgent.
And we are waiting for her count to be good enough for the next round of Chemo.
She had fever started from Saturday and is on antibiotics.So we are still keeping the hope although the doctor told us to get the worst preparation.

Xinxin is still in hospital, so far now, the surgery to resect tumour is not considered first, because surgery can't remove 100% cancer cells parts that eyes can find. so the doctor will use local radiation first then follow a new chemo that was used by MSKCC in New York, because there was one patient in QMH under the same condition and came to MSKCC for treatment, So professor GCF Chan introduced that treatment way to HK, after Xinxin 's blood count and NEU is OK, Dr.Chan will start that Chemo.
High stage Neuroblastoma is really so aggressive and dangerous, the doctors in KKH of singapore and QMH all try their best and never give it up, Dr Shau-yin HA told us they will have group meeting next Monday to review the illness situation and make the treatment plan together with other doctors.

Things are getting worse, there is a new growing tumour on abdomen was found from today's CT scan, that cause Xinxin keep complaining pain these days, maybe radiotherapy or operation will used to kill it, it's really suffering for Xinxin. Very very sad to get this result.

This morning, Xinxin was still complaining pain on stomach and eat nothing, mummy took her to QMH and was admitted to new ward K8. The blood test result is OK, except with low platelet, so Xinxin has to stay in ward for further check up. Hope everything is smooth and Xinxin can back home quickly.

Xinxin's appetite is still good as usual. But she is still complaining pain here and there. It's hard to tell whether it is because of her cancer cells or the 3F8 treatment. So she is taking the pain killers.
Winter is really coming.We feel very cool at night , and the daddy even caught a cold. But Xinxin has enough warm clothes bought by a few friends before we came to HK, so do not worry about Xinxin.
The daddy and the grandparents went to Shenzhen to buy some quilts and clothes. Xinxin and I had a good time at home enjoying cooking and eating by ourselves and made the flat a huge mess without being scolded by anyone. Ha ha. With the painkiller, Xinxin grasps every second to enjoy life, which makes us to be strong also.
Thank God for holding Xinxin to go through all these.

Xinxin is having good appetite at home. She is eating well but still complaining pain as long as she stays at home. So we brought her out a few times to distract her.
